Marfan Awareness Month 2026

1 February, 2026

Connective Tissue Disorders Network Australia (CTDNA) support, advocate and bring awareness to people living with a heritable connective tissue disorder (HTCDs).
HCTDs are a group of genetic conditions affecting the body’s connective tissues. Connective tissue provides the support and structure to other tissue and organs in the body.

Marfan syndrome is a rare genetic disorder that affects 1 in 5000 people and can be life threatening if undiagnosed. One of the areas that Marfan Syndrome affects is the aorta in the heart. The aorta is weakened and can lead to a rupture causing death.
February is Marfan Awareness Month. This month city monuments will light up red.

Old Treasury Building will be lit in red for this event from sunrise to sunset.
