The Old Treasury Building was built in the 1850s to store gold and to provide offices for the leaders of the young colony, including the Governor. It was designed by the 19 year old John James Clark. Discover some of the 150 year history of the Old Treasury Building. Visit the Executive Council Chamber upstairs and the historic gold vaults and Caretaker’s apartment downstairs.

Tours are charged at $10 per student. The minimum group size is 10 students, the maximum group size per session is 50 for Primary or Secondary students.
Group sizes less than 10 will be charged $100 (minimum charge).

Bookings must be made at least one week in advance. Upon submitting this booking request form you will receive an automated email with details of your request. We will contact you within five working days to confirm your booking.

If the number of students attending changes, the Bookings Officer must be informed in writing on [email protected] two days prior to the date of the excursion. If we are not notified, tours will be charged for the originally booked number.

Non-attendance at a booked program will incur the total fee of the amount payable for the excursion.

Schools must be accompanied by at teacher/chaperone at all times. We request minimum/maximum 1 adult per 12 primary students, 1 adult per 12 secondary students, and 1 adult per special needs student.

Schools will only be permitted into the building during their allocated tour time. We regret that changes to tax invoices cannot be made and refunds will not be paid.
