The recipes and ephemera enclosed in this book were all published in Melbourne during the 1910s and twenties. There is no evidence of the exact recipes used by the Maynard family who were caretakers of the Old Treasury Building from 1916 to 1927.

Recipes have been left largely intact, as they were printed. Some spelling may be unusual or unfamiliar ingredients used. They come from a time when refrigeration was not readily available, and less was known about hygiene. Some chemicals or ingredients which were readily available during the time, are not now. Use such chemicals at your own risk. Old Treasury Building does not accept responsibility for the taste of the recipes used.
