Tombs that Talk
9 March at 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM
Wander into any cemetery you will find many gravestones especially in the Victorian era that feature more than just words but sometimes fascinating decorative schemes. Deciphering the meaning behind these symbols can be an instructive exercise – so if you see a broken column it usually indicates a life cut short and the ivy is a sign of immortality. In this lecture, we take a look at tombstone decoration and what it might say about the interred therein.
This lecture is being presented using Zoom by Kenneth Park and Old Treasury Building Museum.
A secure access link for the presentation will be emailed to you a few days prior to the session.
Please note, this lecture will not be recorded.
