1 March at 2:30 PM - 3:30 PM

One of the fascinating discoveries to emerge from James Goold’s library was the collection of works produced by early female printers. In the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries women were generally excluded from trade guilds. The printing trade was no exception. But some of the wives of printers were just as skilled at the printing trade as their husbands and when widowed could sometimes manage to seize the opportunity. Some of the products of their work are now collectors’ items. Find out more about these early women and how they shaped the development of the early modern book.
