This year marks 500 years since the death of the celebrated Leonardo da Vinci (15 April 1452 – 2 May 1519), the extraordinary Italian polymath of the Renaissance whose wide-ranging areas of interest that included invention, drawing, painting, sculpting, architecture, science, music, mathematics, engineering, literature, anatomy, geology, astronomy, botany, writing, history, and cartography. Leonardo accomplished so much in so many fields. He is recognised as one of the great painters of all time. Leonardo was a true Renaissance man. This illustrated lecture will consider the life and times of Leonardo da Vinci and why he is remembered today.
