Originally Dionysus was the Greek god of fertility. Later, he came to be known chiefly as the god of wine and pleasure. The Romans called him Bacchus. He has depicted in art since ancient Greek times. In this lecture we explore the colourful legend of Bacchus and how he has he been visually represented over millennia.
