Melbourne’s Art Deco & Modernist Architecture 1930 – 1970 presented by Robin Grow
2 August at 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM
Join Robin Grow writer and lecturer as he talks on Melbourne’s Art Deco and Modernist Architecture 1930-70. Robin will describe (and show) how the architecture of Melbourne was transformed twice in the 20thC during Pre-war (WWII), when the city became a wonderful centre of Art Deco styling (the first truly international style) and in the post-war period how a further dramatic change occurred – both architecturally and in society in general.
Robin Grow is the long-term President of the Art Deco & Modernism Society of Australia, an international organisation. He is committed to the preservation of interwar and Modernist buildings and regularly writes and presents on these styles. He was the author of the award-winning Art Deco Melbourne, published 2009, and MELMO, Modernist Architecture in Melbourne, published in 2021.
This lecture is being presented using Zoom by Kenneth Park and Old Treasury Building Museum.
Please note, this lecture will not be recorded.
