Great Portraits from the Victorian Era

Come face to face with Charles Dickens, Florence Nightingale, Charles Darwin, Thomas Barnardo, Lewis Carroll, Isambard Kingdom Brunel, Emmeline Pankhurst, Elizabeth Gaskell and many more celebrated British personalities of the Victorian Age who have helped to shape the United Kingdom of today. This beautifully illustrated lecture will look at how the portraitist has captured the sitter. It will also reveal portraits of the not so celebrated: the ‘everyday’ folk whose images provide an additional and fascinating insight into the Victorian Age.
Kenneth W Park
Curator, lecturer, tour leader and historian, Kenneth W Park has a passion for art, architecture and cultural history. Kenneth is a very popular in demand lecturer. These days spends Kenneth spends more time overseas than at home in Melbourne. He is very often found a cruise ship providing on board lectures. Kenneth has presented all over Australia and around the world on a wide variety of subjects. However, Kenneth does enjoy speaking on art, and he has lectured on portraiture on many occasions including as part of public programs for the Archibald Prize. Kenneth has been associated with the Old Treasury Museum Building for over two decades presenting lectures and walking tours.
