'JJ Clark and the instant metropolis’ with Andrew Lemon
The young incredibly talented architectural draftsman JJ Clark arrived in Melbourne at the height of the gold rushes in 1854 and by 1862 he had designed the beautiful Old Treasury Building. During his career Clark designed many other notable Melbourne buildings. Andrew will give us a glimpse into these vibrant and exciting times of early Melbourne.
Dr Andrew Lemon, president of the Royal Historical Society of Victoria, and is very knowledgeable on the history of Melbourne. He has written widely on the suburbs, from Williamstown to Northcote, Box Hill to Broadmeadows, on schools, businesses, biographies and shipwrecks but is best known for his epic trilogy The History of Australian Thoroughbred Racing and the story of the Melbourne Cup.
